Why choose the performance lab?
Vocal Techniques for the Stage
Voice training in The Performance Lab goes beyond simple exercises. Students explore vocal projection, pitch control, and expressive dynamics—learning how to use their voice to captivate an audience and convey the emotional depth of each song and scene.
Character Development and Improvisation
Acting is all about bringing characters to life. Through imaginative exercises and guided improvisation, students delve into character motivation, backstory, and personality, gaining a deeper understanding of the characters they portray. Improvisation challenges students to think on their feet, respond creatively, and build confidence in their spontaneous acting abilities.
Stage Presence and Storytelling
Performing is as much about presence as it is about skill. In this course, students learn how to command the stage, engage an audience, and convey a story with authenticity and impact. They discover the nuances of non-verbal cues, body language, and spatial awareness, all critical to connecting with audiences and enhancing storytelling.
Culminating Mini-Performance
The journey in The Performance Lab builds to a final mini-performance, giving each student the chance to shine. In a supportive, encouraging environment, students showcase what they’ve learned in front of family, friends, and fellow students. This capstone performance is a celebration of their hard work, creativity, and growth, allowing them to experience the thrill of live theater.
Who Should Enroll?
This course is perfect for young performers ages 10-18, from beginners just stepping onto the stage to those with prior theater experience looking to develop as multi-disciplinary artists.
